Research and Planning- Analysis of a Rom-Com "A Cinderellas Story"

The way this film opens it really creates a sense of nostalgia because it opens up with a narration of a women reading a story from a children's book and it makes the audience think of their own childhood, the story she is narrating could be the story of her life. The way the name of the film has been written it has an element of old world embedded through it and the audience get an impression of the way the film is going to be laid out or perhaps the way the film will flow.

Before the narration starts the camera takes the audience on a journey through mountains and we then come to a castle this is where the narration begins the camera then zooms out to reveal a young girl sitting on the bonnet of a car looking over a smoggy city and thats when we see where the film is set.

We then move through elemants of the young girls childhood and we see places within her life that will feature throught the movie. We also get to see how close this young girl is with her father and how much she depends on him. During these opening scenes we then see how the young girl gets a step mother and how her father affections change.

However during a night time story reading from her father an earthquake hits her home town and unfortunatly her father dies and the girl is forced to live with her step mother because they couldn't find her fathers will and she is made to work for her stepmother in her fathers diner.

I think this opening is a really good start of a film it sets up enigmas to show what we will be seeing during the course of the film and I think the narration over the top of the opening really helps the audience get an incite of what we can expect to see during the course of the film.
